Nature Museum
From commercial forest to natural forest
The Sihlwald was previously a managed forest, in which trees had been felled for centuries. Using contributed films, objects and historical pictures, a permanent exhibition shows how the Sihlwald was used and maintained in the past.
You also have the opportunity to explore today’s Sihlwald and find out about its future as a natural forest. You will learn exciting facts about trees, the people who lived in the forest and dead wood in the Sihlwald.
Exhibition «WaldWildnisWir»
There’s plenty to discover in the forest. A squirrel carrying a nut up a tree trunk, a luminous mushroom growing in the foliage, a woodpecker drumming somewhere in the tree tops. The forest is full of the sounds of life. The «Wild about the forest» exhibition brings the forest’s habitat into our Nature Museum.
You’ll discover secretive inhabitants of the forest, interesting facts about trees, surprising symbiotic communities and humorous and thought-provoking facts about forests. Sharpen your senses in the museum’s forest and then venture out into the Sihlwald Nature Discovery Park.
