25 Years Wilderness
Anniversairy Hike Albispass – Sihlwald
Season
All season
The route starts on the Albis Pass and leads along the Hochwachtroad towards Albis Hochwacht/Sihlbrugg. After just a few hundred metres, a wonderful view opens up, reaching as far as the Alps, while the forest begins on the right. The trail first leads past the renaturalised Albisboden gravel pit, then into the forest to the Albisboden hut, where there is also a fireplace. If you prefer a more leisurely walk, continue along the wide path. Alternatively, you can take an adventurous detour along a narrow path to the right, which later rejoins the Hochwachtroad. The transformation from commercial forest to wilderness is already evident on this first stage.
The next intermediate destination: the Albis-Hochwacht viewing tower. It's worth the climb! From there, continue along the wide path to the northern Schnabellücke and then down the valley towards Langnau-Gattikon. If you want to visit the Schnabelburg ruins, take the narrow ridge path.
Before the Summerhalden meadow, turn right and follow the path until you come to a junction with a wooden barrier. The so called Bähnliweg leads down the valley to Sihlwaldroad. Turn left to the Langrain forest hut. Shortly afterwards, a signpost points down the valley towards the hamlet of Sihlwald.
Once there, you can round off the hike with a detour to the visitor centre and, with a bit of luck, watch the otters there. From Sihlwald railway station, you can the Sihltalbahn (S4) towards Zurich and, during the season, the bus towards Horgen.
