The Wildlife Day in Sihlwald offers fun, games and exciting nature knowledge for the whole family on the Sunday after next. The focus is on the magnificent sand lizard, hedgehogs, wild bees and other small animals.

If you want to find out more about the bright green sand lizard, the lecture by biologist Niklaus Peyer is just right for you. The Junior Rangers of Wildnispark Zurich and the Wilderness Messengers will be presenting native lizards and their close relative, the slow worm, at their information stands. Pro Natura Zurich presents the animal of the year: the polecat.

Children can take part in a treasure hunt in the area, where they have to solve riddles about frogs, salamanders and toads. The Friends of the Wildnispark Zurich and Zürcher Kantonalbank will be on site with games of skill. There is even gold to be won at the ZKB.

The Nature Museum is also worth a visit: it shows the diversity and history of the Sihlwald as well as the current special exhibition "Sand lizard - Everything alright?". And last but not least, it's worth exploring the immediate surroundings of the nature museum: Here, the rangers of Wildnispark Zurich have worked with volunteers to create new habitats for animals such as hedgehogs, sand lizards, wild bees and weasels. The result is impressive: On sunny days, it hums, buzzes, crawls and flies like crazy here. Perhaps visitors to the Wildlife Day will be inspired to create such habitats in their own gardens?

The Wildlife Day takes place on Sunday, September 29 from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The stands are located on the grounds of the visitor center near the Sihlwald train station.
