New president and management of zooschweiz
At the end of May, veterinarian Karin Federer was unanimously elected as the new president of zooschweiz, the association of scientifically managed zoological gardens in Switzerland.
At the end of May, the ten members of zooschweiz unanimously elected Karin Federer as the new President. Federer is Director of the Walter Zoo in Gossau and takes over from Caspar Bijleveld. The director of the Papiliorama in Kerzers headed zooschweiz for 3 years.
At the same time, they have reorganised their board. In addition to the President, it consists of four zoo directors: Karin Hindenlang (Langenberg Wildlife Park, previously), Friederike von Houwald (Bern Zoo, previously), Michel Ansermet (Aquarium/Vivarium Aquatis Lausanne, new) and Severin Dressen (Zurich Zoo, new).
There are also changes at the zooschweiz office. The Board of Directors has appointed Adrian Zaugg as the organisation's new Managing Director.
Zoo Switzerland is the umbrella organisation for progressive Swiss zoos. Its members are committed to exemplary and scientifically based animal husbandry. Other cornerstones are a wide range of educational programmes and far-reaching commitment to national and international nature and species conservation.
