Temporary reopening of the Sihlwald campsite

The "Verein Camping Sihlwald" is now responsible for the operation of the campsite on the Sihl. The association was formed from the board of IG Camping Sihlwald. The latter was founded last fall by enthusiastic Sihlwald campers after the foundation announced the temporary closure of the campsite on the Sihl. As soon as the weather conditions are right next April, it will therefore be possible to camp in Sihlwald again.

Amicable talks have taken place between the association and the foundation, which have resulted in an agreement for interim use on the basis of a so-called "free use loan". The Zurich Wilderness Park Foundation is pleased with this solution. "It gives us the time we need to review and sustainably optimize the overnight accommodation options in the Sihlwald Nature Discovery Park," says Isabelle Roth, Deputy Managing Director and responsible for the natural forest. The loan is valid until the new concept is ready for implementation.

"The planning and legal steps for managing the Sihlwald campsite are more complex than we thought," says Werner Schneebeli, President of the association, "but it's worth it for this wonderful place on the Sihl. We would like to thank the Zurich Wilderness Park Foundation for their trust and look forward to the season. For guests, things will continue as before: from April to October, the site on the Sihl is an inviting place to linger and as a base for excursions into the wilderness - as long as the coronavirus situation allows.
