Taking the pulse of the wilderness

The annual program of the Zurich Wilderness Park is here

Media release
"... so if you don't want to perish, leave a little wilderness", the German author Eugen Roth once wrote. The Zurich Wilderness Park is taking these words to heart in the 2016 season. What's more: wilderness should get under your skin. The current annual program offers a wide variety of activities to provide unique experiences for young and old.

Do your children regularly pester you with questions about bears, foxes or deer that you don't really know the answers to? A wide range of brief information from wilderness messengers in the Langenberg provides interesting facts about the local flora and fauna and enables close encounters. So it's not just the children who will remember the new knowledge. Would you like to know more about a nature topic without having to do a lot of research? Then visit a "Wilderness Day" or stroll through an exhibition at the Nature Museum in Sihlwald. Do you like discovering wilderness or wildlife on your own? You can observe wild animals on your own all year round, experience wilderness, hike through the natural forest, let your children run around on playgrounds and much more.

Wild days

The "Wilderness Days" are all about observing, experiencing and trying things out. On five Sundays between March and September, the Zurich Wilderness Park offers a varied entertainment program. Visitors can meet rangers, for example, and learn more about their everyday lives and the natural forest where they work in a fun way. Or you can take a look behind the scenes of a nature museum. Even the youngest guests can experience a lot on these days: "fairy tale hours", craft tables, a carousel, a Punch and Judy show and much more. Another highlight is the traditional wilderness park festival on September 18: "Schtärneföifi" sings well-known catchy tunes and gets children young and old to sing along.

  • Opening day with vernissage and "Märli": Sun, March 20, 1-5.30 p.m.
  • Open day with Punch and Judy show: Sun/Mon, May 15/16, 12-5.30 p.m.
  • Young animals in the Langenberg with short guided tours: Sun, June 5, 1-5 p.m.
  • Mushroom day with stands and mushroom inspection: Sun, August 28, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Ranger day with forest tours and handicrafts: Sun, Sept. 4, 1-4 p.m.
  • Wilderness park festival with children's concerts: Sun, September 18, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Secret conquerors

The visitor center with nature museum in Sihlwald starts its new season on 20 March: Pro Natura Zurich's new special exhibition "Secret Conquerors - Migration of Animal and Plant Species" invites visitors young and old to get to know the most important animal and plant immigrants better. Not everything that we consider native has always been at home here ... let yourself be surprised.
