Proven cooperation in the fight against neophytes

From June 10 to 12, 138 volunteers joined forces with the Zurich Wilderness Park and various project partners to declare war on the neophytes around the old Sihlbrugg train station. The pleasing result: the invasive plants have continued to decline. The cooperation with the partners has become established.

The fourth edition of the Neophyte Action Days from June 10-12 confirmed the positive trend of recent years. Unwanted neophytes such as goldenrod are on the retreat. The project managers and 138 volunteers found fewer plants than in previous years. They were also smaller and weaker. A total of 1.8 tons of neophytes were professionally disposed of.

Just as pleasing as the reduction in neophytes is the successful cooperation between the various partners. After four years, the team consisting of the Zurich Wilderness Park, the Office for Waste, Water, Energy and Air, the Canton of Zurich Civil Engineering Office, the Wädenswil Nature Conservation Association, Grün Stadt Zürich, SBB and SZU is well established. Together we are strong - the Neophyte Action Days are exemplary proof of this.
