Numerous kittens have been born at Langenberg Zoo in recent weeks - including wildcats, Przewalski foals, newborns and fawns. Particularly pleasing: the new she-wolf has also given birth to four pups. On Sunday, June 26, the "Young Animals" wildlife day offers visitors an exciting look behind the scenes.
There are currently numerous playful young animals to discover at Langenberg Zoo. So far, the wild cats, ibex and red deer, Przewalski's horses, wild boars and wolves have given birth.
An anniversary, two lectures and numerous adventure posts
If you are particularly interested in a certain animal species or would like to find out more about the importance of young animals at Langenberg Zoo, you should keep the afternoon of June 26th free. On this Sunday, the "Young Animals" wildlife day at Langenberg offers a rich program for children and adults.
Martin Kilchenmann, Head of Animals, will tell visitors about the young animals at the zoo. What significance does breeding have for endangered animal species and what role do young animals play in the social life of the individual animal groups? The lecture takes place twice, at 2 and 3 pm.
The "International Takhi Group" association will be visiting the Przewalski's horses because there is reason to celebrate: 30 years ago, the first of these wild horses, which had become extinct in the wild, were reintroduced in Mongolia. The Zurich Wilderness Park is also actively involved in this successful species and nature conservation project.
Zürcher Kantonalbank - the main sponsor of the Zurich Wilderness Park - will be present with its popular skittles game. There is real, fair gold to be won.
The program is rounded off by two short tours of the walk-in wild boar enclosure and the animal park's feed kitchen, as well as three information stands from Wildnisboten and Pro Natura Zürich.
