Langenberg Zoo finally open again!

Next Monday, Langenberg Wildlife Park will reopen its gates to the public. The wildlife park team is very much looking forward to welcoming visitors again from March 1. The extensive grounds offer good conditions for a safe recreational outing. The restaurant in Langenberg will be selling take-away food and drinks when the weather is fine. The offers for school classes can also take place again.

"We are very pleased that the Federal Council decided to relax the restrictions at its last meeting," explains Karin Hindenlang Clerc, Managing Director of the Zurich Wilderness Park Foundation. "The zoo area offers the best conditions for visitors to relax and unwind in the fresh air in a safe environment. We are very much looking forward to welcoming our guests!"

Langenberg is the largest zoo in Switzerland in terms of area and has wide paths - a major advantage in terms of the precautions against the coronavirus pandemic: the number of guests permitted by the authorities is so large that even in normal years it is not reached on the busiest days.

As the zoo has several entrances and does not charge admission, visitors can spread out easily and the risk of crowds is low. The animal houses will remain closed for the time being.

The warm temperatures have already woken up the bears. However, the wilderness park gives no guarantees of a sighting, because if it gets cold again, the 'Mutzen' may retreat back into their dens.

Masks compulsory and no gatherings allowed

The rules of the Federal Office of Public Health and our protection concept apply throughout the area. These include the obligation to wear masks for people aged 12 and over and the minimum distance of 1.5 meters. Gatherings of more than 15 people are also prohibited. "We are counting on our guests to take responsibility," says Karin Hindenlang. "If necessary, our team will also intervene with a friendly warning."

Gastronomy, school classes, nature museum and visitor center

The Langenberg restaurant sells take-away food and drinks when the weather is fine. The offers for school classes may continue as before. As every year, the visitor center and nature museum in Sihlwald will open for the season on 21 March, albeit without a grand opening event.
