It takes a bit of courage not to reflexively duck your head when a saker falcon or a desert buzzard glides just over your head. On Sundays in June, you can put your own courage to the test in the Zurich Langenberg Wilderness Park at 11 am and 2 pm in dry weather - but don't worry, the experienced falconer and gamekeeper Steven Diethelm knows his birds of prey very well and has them firmly under control throughout the demonstration.

He wears a thick leather glove on his left arm. He uses it to present his birds - saker falcon, peregrine falcon, goshawk, red kite, eagle owl, buzzard and desert buzzard - to the audience at close range. At the same time, Steven Diethelm provides entertaining and understandable information about the foraging habits and lifestyles of these birds of prey. The red kite, for example, is such a skillful hunter in the air that it can steal prey from other birds of prey in flight.

Steven Diethelm's acrobats of the skies can demonstrate their skills in the so-called feather game. In this game, the falconer lets a pillow-like dummy prey covered in feathers circle above his head on a long string. This is an unmistakable signal for all his birds of prey to return to him immediately. The swooping flights of the saker falcons are particularly fascinating during this spectacle.

As the air show can only be held in dry weather, please call 1600, heading public events, from the Saturday before. Admission: Adults CHF 12.- / children from 6 years CHF 5.- / family admission CHF 25.-. Attention: approx. 30 minutes walk from the Langenberg West parking lot. No admission will be granted after the start of the performance.
