The walk-in wild boar enclosure in the Zurich Langenberg Wilderness Park offers a unique experience with native wild animals. Visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural habitat of the agile and inquisitive wild boar and observe the wild animals without a disturbing fence. True to the motto "In the middle of it, not just there". However, this unique experience is only possible if all guests adhere to the following rules of conduct:
- Do not feed the animals
- Do not stroke the animals
- Do not leave the paths
- Dogs and baby carriages are prohibited
The welfare of the animals is paramount
If wild boars are fed or stroked, they lose their natural shyness towards humans and become intrusive. In order to ensure the safety of our young guests and the zookeepers, such intrusive animals must be killed. The Zurich Wilderness Park Foundation had to do this in the fall of 2015 after individual guests failed to adhere to the rules of conduct. The accessible facility then remained closed for a year and a half. If a similar situation arises again this time, the foundation reserves the right to only offer guided tours or to close the facility completely. After all, the welfare of the animals is the top priority at the Zurich Wilderness Park.
